The Children’s Defense Fund (CDF) Freedom Schools program and Florida A&M University (FAMU) are hosting a 2-week professional development institute entitled “Centering Youth Agency in the Civil Rights Movement” (click here for more info).

This National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH)-funded institute aims to expose participants to new approaches to civil rights history that center the influential role of young people in the Movement. The program is based on innovative scholarship and the culturally sustaining pedagogical traditions of Freedom Schools past and present.

The deadline for educators to apply is March 3rd, 2023, and applications can be found here. Participants will receive a stipend to cover associated travel and lodging costs.
