|Climates of Inequality
Professional Development for 5th-12th Grade Teachers
This professional development experience was developed in conjunction with the temporary Climates of Inequality exhibit held at the Arizona Heritage Center at Papago Park. The exhibit explores stories of environmental justice from the perspective of frontline communities. The interactive workshop prepares up to 30 teacher to integrate critical
environment and historical concepts related to both changing climate and societal inequalities into their scope and sequence. Participants will work with facilitators to investigate the ways that environment and inequality
intersect, designing critical questions that they can use when they and their students make a (funded) post-work field trip to the exhibit and Heritage Center. Teachers will receive a $300 stipend for participating in the workshop.
